An update on the Brickhouse BBQ event (already!):
Brickhouse BBQ (408 W Gorham St, Downtown) - Central Waters Brewing Co (Amherst, WI), Shorts Brewing Co (Bellaire, MI), and Nebraska Brewing Co (Papillion, NE): This year we are upping the ante. There will me more taps offered toour friends at Central Waters Brewing Company, Short's Brewing Company, and Nebraska Brewing Company. While I cannot say with 100% certainty what will be on tap (we have a good idea, but you know how these things can be), from our discussions with the breweries, I can say that it will be bigger and better than last year's party.

On Thursday you can start your Pre-Pre Great Taste Festivities off with a free tasting of Central Waters Brewing Company (Amherst, WI) from 4pm to 7pm at Star Liquor (1209 Williamson St, Near East)

  1. Hey this is Spartan boy, and hells bells, Short's is going to have a party at Brickhouse. They are the real deal in Michigan. After the beloved Bells and Founders, the Short's brewery is catching up to them in a hurry. Hopefully they bring along some "Cornholio" the colaboration they just did with Dogfish Head.
They have 20 brews on tap at their place in Bellaire. Just fricking awesome!

  2. I wish I had Great Taste tickets!July 15, 2011 at 8:41 AM

Shorts has some interesting beers but I haven't been wowed by anything yet. New Holland, Dark Horse and Jolly Pumpkin are still ahead of them at this time, but they are a nice addition to the Michigan Market. Michigan beer >>>>>> Wisconsin beer.

  3. You can generally find tickets the morning of the Taste, at least in the last 3 or 4 years I've been going. Agreed that Michigan beer is amazing, but UM >>>> MSU! GO BLUE!

  4. im assuming you need a great taste ticket to attend the brewery parties at these establishments??

  5. You do not need a ticket for these events so fear not! These events are a nice consolation for people who miss out on Great Taste tickets. Good opportunity to get a taste of stuff that isn't often available. These events have almost become a mini Great Taste in and of themselves and are a terrific complement to a fun weekend of beer.

  6. Wow, now i don't feel so bad about being in CO the day tickets went on sale. :)

  7. Nate Peck lead brewer Sand Creek breweryJuly 18, 2011 at 6:59 PM

I will sweeten the pot by saying that Sand Creek will be providing some very special beers. One very special beer will be in a vary special barrel and will be available for the first time only at Drackenbergs.

  8. when did this blog become the michigan college cheerleading section? Michigan=====overrated, (the MI breweries mentioned do great work, though)
